Extraordinary!

Erika Maung, a second grader student, in extraordinary performance got the Monte Joffee trophy maximum prize of the Chess tournament at the Renaissance Charter School.
The event, which counted with the participation of 14 avid chess players, was the closing door of the scholastic chess competitions of this year.
Very calm, the new champion smiled to say that” the competition was tough. I wasn’t thinking that I will get the trophy even when I was dreaming with” she said.
To deserve her position, Erica defeated Scott Brevda, Nikola Mirkovic, drew with black pieces against Dylan Maida and finally beat Moses Levich.
At the open section, Dylan Maida with 3.5 points, the same as Erica, got his place by tiebreaks.

Other winners are: Angelica Benares in girls, Moses Levich in Intermediate 1; Nikola Mirkovic, Intermediate 2.
Alexis Orrego, former winner of the event in two occasions, was affected by a little indigestion, which at the end affected his performance as well. “I love to compete and promised to be here. "I’m not disappointed because I did what I could", he said.
As always, the award ceremony count with the presence of numerous chessplayers, parents, and the special help of Jake Levich.
